1) The IDA's new five year contract started on the 1st January (2015-2019). Can you tell us what your ambitions for this interdisciplinary institute are today?
In order to reply to this question, first of all, I need to highlight the permanent bond that exists between the IDA's scientific projects and the more functional aspects concerning the running of these projects. After twelve years of existence, our Institute carries out quality inter-disciplinary research, in a way that I would qualify as both sincere and efficient (at the level of several interfaces : chemistry biology, bio-physics, bio-engineering...) and examples like these are not very common on the Saclay site. It's not enough to decree that you want to carry out inter or multi(pluri)disciplinary, in order for ambitious projects to fall into place within a reasonable time scale. It has taken years to achieve such a level of maturity and we should consider this advance over other, equivalent, structures, as a precious advantage. I therefore hope that our Institute will persevere in the scientific quality of its interdisciplinary work, above and beyond the level of excellence of the four laboratories that comprise it, that is currently recognised, and will take advantage of the positive dynamics recognised in the AERS report, that was so very favourable towards the IDA. My short, one year, experience at the head of the IDA, leads me to believe that a rather good start has been made.
