Nonlinear optical properties of gold nanorods of different aspect ratios synthesized by radiolysis were studied by harmonic light scattering (HLS). A strong enhancement of the second harmonic response with respect to the aspect ratio, together with a relative increase of dipolar hyperpolarizability, is reported.
